Autumn Reviews

Friends of Ravenna talks this autumn are taking place on Zoom.  Our members have been very appreciative – see a few of the comments:

8 December: “An Evening of Harp Music” with Keziah Thomas

‘Keziah Thomas played us a wonderful selection of music and had even arranged some especially for us. I thought she was charming and a great communicator and her enthusiasm was infectious. What a beautiful instrument the harp is and so interesting to hear more about it from Keziah. I didn’t realise it had 6 pedals !’

‘It was a brilliant and uplifting evening, both the music and the Q&A sessions.’

It was such a wonderful evening -Keziah has such a heat-warming smile.’

What a charming personality Keziah has! The programme was suitably varied and it was interesting to hear her talk about the different functions various parts on the harp have. It was fascinating to be able to see the movement of her hands so close up and her facial expression. Surely everyone must have enjoyed the evening!’

‘What a super evening and what a delightful personality! She clearly really enjoyed herself and was completely natural besides being a star performer.’

What a wonderful evening and such a treat on a cold evening to sit back and listen to such a delightful recital.  Lovely music, a beautiful instrument and such a pleasant musician.’

She played beautifully and added so much more by cheerfully answering all the questions.‘

‘Such a lovely evening! That was quite special!’

9 November: “The Struggle against the Mafia” by Prof. John Dickie

“Thank you SO much.  A fascinating talk tonight.  I really enjoyed it.  IF there is a recording I would love to have the link so that I could watch it again.”

Thank you for organising this. It was fascinating and we now have a much better understanding of the Mafia and its development. “

“Thank you …for yesterday’s excellent lecture – so fascinating!”

14 October  “The History of the Medici” by Douglas Skeggs

“The Medici talk was of such an astonishing high standard and so professionally managed.”

“Brilliant Evening and wonderfully organised. Thank you”

24 September  “More Prosecco, Vicar?” by John-Henry Bowden

Just wanted to say how very much we enjoyed John-Henry Bowden’s talk at last night’s meeting. His excellent stories raised all our spirits – it’s always good to laugh out loud.”

“John-Henry, I just want to say how much I really enjoyed your talk about Venice last night and the slides and masks between the stories made it all so professional.  What a fascinating time you had in Venice, but not all enjoyment and a lot of hard work and stressful moments at the time.

9 September  “Papa Francesco a Palermo” by Jennifer McNeill

“I very much enjoyed Jennifer McNeill’s talk and I’d be grateful if you could pass on to her my thanks for all the effort she must have put into preparing a really interesting presentation and insight into Sicily and the impact of the Pope’s visit.”

“Grazie per una piacevolissima conferenza”
