The Province of Ravenna is one of nine provinces in the region of Emilia-Romagna in the north-east of Italy. It is also in the east of the region that abuts the Adriatic Sea. The Province of Ferrara lies immediately to the north and the Province of Bologna to the west. The Province of Florence in the region of Tuscany forms the south western border and the Province of Forli-Cesena occupies the region due south. The Provincial capital of Emilia-Romagna is the City of Ravenna which is situated a few miles inland from the coast but is connected to the Adriatic Sea by the Candiano Canal.
The City of Ravenna has many very ornate ancient Churches and Municipal buildings, a sample of which you can see here. The most well known are designated as Basilicas and are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.
